I'm going shopping tomorrow for some new makeup.
I've heard that ELF is really cheap and good.
But I also heard that the foundation and pressed powders are aweful.
What foundation, pressed powders, eyeshadows, etc. would you recommend?
Nothing too expensive, and nothing too cheap.
But i'm willing to spend a little more on the foundation.
(It must not be tested on animals!)Makeup products?
If there is anything you should dish your money out on, it is definetly your foundation and eye makeup. It is critical that you find a good quality foundation that offers you the coverage, blendability, and non-irritability you want, as well as good eye makeup (this is especially important as you should look for labels that state ';ophthamalogist tested'; or ';safe for sensitive eyes/contact lens wearers';. Cheaply made eye makeup will lead to infections).
An inexpensive but good quality makeup line is Covergirl. After trying on dozens of foundations, I found that Covergirl TruBlend Whipped Foundation is my favorite. It is creamy, yet it goes on light, is super blendable, and is great for my oily complexion, though the texture is suitable for all skintypes. It is oil-free and noncomedogenic (wont clog pores) and therefore is great for acne prone skin in case you have one, and it doesnt leave you feeling heavily made up. Plus it matches your skintone and onlky costs $10. I highly recommend you try this out. As for pressed powders, I like Annabelle TruSkin Powder ($6) for its translucent coverage but mattifying and evening out properties.
For eyemakeup, you can't go wrong with Maybelline. They sell eye shadows in singles, doubles, and quads and range from $4 to $8. As well, their eyeliners are great for sensitve eyes and last long (I like their smudge proof ';Unstoppable'; Liner for $7). Their mascara is very reasonably priced as well at $8.
For more of a selection on eye makeup, try Rimmel. They have a HUGE array of eye shadow and eye liner colors and are safe for your eyes as well. THey range from $4 to $8 too.
I have also tried NYC and Bonnebelle and Wet n Wild Makeup (all found at walmart for $1.50 to $5) and find that they aren't too bad either, but their eye liners are not as good and color selection is limited. I don't know about their foundations however becuaes I do not trust their product on my sensitve skin but I assume they'd be ok. However, I still highly recommend Covegirl. For a more expensive product however, go for Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup ($30) if you are willing to pay a bit more.Makeup products?
probably almay. that stuff is pretty cheap and good.
neutrogena products are made with pretty high quality materials if you're looking for something in the drugstore price range. If you have sensitive skin, Aveda products are all natural or have naturally derived minerals, a tinted moisturizer will run at about $22, but its a lot and lasts forever. Also, just check out department stores, ask for samples and have them try the different shades on you...you can even ask if their product is test on animals, most sales reps are savvy enough to know that information.
good luck shopping...
I've never heard of ELF
